While people in New York are wearing bathing suits in January, it went below freezing in San Francisco. This photo is nothing to write home about (indeed, you may confuse it with a picture of some moon of Jupiter), but it is documentary evidence of our frosty state.

red-tailed hawk
A red-tailed hawk in the neighborhood. It was flying with a juvenile--perhaps its offspring?
