Eerie Sutro Tower
After I took this picture, the result showed only the moon and Sutro Tower's red lights. Aggressively wacky Photoshop editing showed that the camera found more detail in the last few shades of black, including the fog blowing through the tower and the struts' moon shadows in the fog. Everything else is noise and image sensor artifacts.

fireworks 2
Rachel makes a less-than-perfect tripod, but the jiggled exposure is kind of pleasantly psychedelic.
fireworks 1
San Francisco's 2006 fireworks show. In a rare display, it wasn't totally shrouded in fog. There was a freezing 30 mph wind, though, where we watched from Tank Hill.

American Gothic, kinda
OK, so Rob and Des are smiling, reversed left for right, and Rob is holding an empty wine glass instead of a pitchfork. Still.

neighbor cat
Our new across-the-street neighbor evidently has a cat. Chalmers is very excited and wants to set up a play date.

hybrid vehicle
Some guy in the Sunnyside likes to tape pointy succulents to his motorcycle. I've seen him riding, too, and he does the same thing with his helmet so he looks somewhat like the predator in that dumb Arnold Schwarzenegger movie.

Windblown
Welcome to the Sunnyside, our San Francisco neighborhood where the wind blows all the trees to the east and it's foggy all summer. I'm convinced the area was named Sunnyside the same way Greenland did: a real estate marketing scam to imply the climate is nicer than it really is. In fairness, it's not as foggy as the Richmond or Sunset areas.
